Winter 2001. “Sailors! Prepare your bags, you are heading out on the HMCS Shawinigan on mission to the Caribbean!” A contract that I complete with the Canadian Forces Navy Reserves. Out of 12 possible ships, only two were heading out for this training mission. My joy was as immense as the beauty of the blue waters of the Caribbean over which I would sail.
